Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of children s speech, language, and communication abilities. Identify and diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders and provide detailed reports outlining findings and recommendations.
Therapy Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement individualized therapy plans for children with a range of communication disorders, including speech delays, language delays, social communication difficulties, and feeding/swallowing disorders. Adapt therapy approaches to meet the unique needs of each child.
Intervention Delivery: Provide direct therapeutic interventions to children through one-on-one sessions, small groups, and/or parent/carer training. Use evidence-based practices, resources, and techniques to support children s communication development.
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including paediatricians, psychologists, occupational therapists, and educational staff, to ensure coordinated care for children with complex needs.
Family and Carer Support: Provide support, guidance, and training to parents and carers, helping them understand their child s communication needs and how to support progress at home and in the community. Offer advice on creating communication-friendly environments.
Monitoring and Reporting Progress: Regularly review and monitor the progress of children under your care. Adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure continued progress and address any emerging challenges. Provide progress reports for parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the child s care.
