Role Overview:

The surveyor will be responsible for conducting thorough visual inspections of buildings to assess their overall condition. This includes identifying defects, wear and tear, and potential maintenance issues. The role involves creating detailed reports with recommendations for repairs or future investment planning, requiring expertise in building construction, relevant legislation, and proficiency with data collection tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive visual surveys of buildings, including internal and external structures, fixtures, fittings, and services like plumbing, electrical, and heating systems.
• Accurately record and document any observed defects, damage, or deterioration, noting severity and potential risks.
• Produce detailed written reports outlining the property's condition, including photographs, specifying necessary repairs, estimated costs, and prioritisation of works.
• Ensure inspections adhere to relevant building regulations, standards, and legal requirements like the Decent Homes Standard.
• Utilise specialised software to record inspection data, generate reports, and analyse trends across a property portfolio.
• Communicate findings clearly to clients, including property managers, landlords, or homeowners, explaining repair recommendations and potential budget implications.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of building construction methods, materials, maintenance practices, and common building defects.
• Ideally, membership with a professional body like the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or relevant building surveying qualifications.
