About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and talented professional to join our senior management team as a Head of Programmes. In this role, you will lead on the strategic delivery and oversight of our programmes and projects across the children’s directorate, driving operational excellence, and delivering on the Council’s strategic priorities. With an extensive history of delivering programmes using project management methodology, in this role you will ensure each programme and project is needs-led and evidence-based, providing the best outcomes and value for the council. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of our residents by shaping and delivering services that meet their needs both now and in the future.

About You
Expert Knowledge: Substantial knowledge and experience at a management level of working in a local authority or equivalent experience.
Professional Membership: Recognised professional project management qualification or be a member of an appropriate professional body by examination or have evidence of continuing professional development.
Leadership Skills: A track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, driving cultural change, and inspiring confidence in stakeholders.
Communication skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence.
Strategic Vision: The ability to think differently, handle complexity, and propose innovative, well-thought-out solutions.
Passion: Genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
About the Team
You will lead a team of experienced professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of children in our community. As the Head of Children's Programmes, you will be accountable for a range of programmes and projects, with numerous Programme Leads reporting to you. Each programme team consists of a combination of project managers and project officers, which is why you will play an important role in leading and developing our growing and diverse team
