Job Title: Contract Software Test Engineer – 6 months (Outside IR35)

Location: Cheshire (Hybrid/On-site)

Rate: £45–50 per hour (outside IR35)

We’re working with an exciting technology company in Cheshire that’s leading the way in developing innovative solutions for the construction industry. They’re looking for a Contract Software Test Engineer to join their team for an initial 6 months (with a strong chance of extension) and play a key role in transitioning their testing processes from manual to automated systems.

Key Skills and Experience:

* Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

* Proven commercial experience in software testing (manual and/or automated)

* Strong knowledge of Python for scripting

* Familiarity with either Windows or Linux systems

* Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset

The Role:

Reporting to the Software Team Leader, you’ll take ownership of the company’s testing function, starting with manual and functional testing before progressing toward automated solutions. Your role will involve:

* Expanding and enhancing the company’s testing capabilities

* Managing and developing test cases, scripts, and associated documentation

* Designing and implementing automated test environments

* Testing on both embedded systems and PC platforms
