A local government body is seeking a Head of Finance for a contract role. This pivotal position will oversee financial planning, control, and strategic direction within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading and managing financial planning and control activities
Directing staff and supervising wider groups of employees across various projects
Providing expert advice on technical accounting and sector-specific financial issues
Driving business process transformation projects to enhance efficiency and financial control
Building robust relationships with senior managers, partners, and stakeholders to improve organisational performance
Overseeing commercial and contract negotiations and investment appraisals
Job Requirements:
Must have experience of managing Capital or Treasury within a local government setting
CCAB Qualified Accountant (preferably CIPFA), with significant post-qualification experience and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Extensive knowledge of one or more specialist and complex areas of either technical accounting or relevant sector knowledge
Extensive knowledge in specialist and complex areas of technical accounting or relevant sector knowledge
Track record of achievement at a management level within a large and complex organisation
Demonstrable experience of advising on financial planning, accounting, and control
Proven experience in building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to improve performance
Experience in implementing business process transformation projects
