Description
As a family support worker, you will play a pivotal role in our team. Your partnership with families and parents/carers, offering advice and guidance in an early intervention role to develop and enhance parenting skills, is crucial. Completing a range of assessments using the Signs of Safety and, where appropriate, referrals to other services will always safeguard and promote the well-being of children.
Responsibilities
The role involves direct work with children and young people to explore their views and worries and ensure that the plans/interventions are helping to improve their outcomes. Coordinate support with our multi-agency partners to ensure a whole family approach addresses the family's identified needs.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* NVQ Level 4 &/or relevant experience
* Advanced – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media, and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements—Criteria to be Tested at Shortlisting.
* Ability to assess risk and need through early help assessments on a case-by-case basis.
* Experience using de-escalation methods to reduce challenging behaviour from adults, children and young people in families.
* Experience in supporting families/carers in developing practical parenting strategies which enhance positive
Parent/carer-child relations.
* Ability to keep adequate records, plans, assessments, chronologies and associated general notes on the electronic systems.
* Ability to attend regular supervision sessions with the consultant social worker to provide evidence of the outcome.
* Experience within children's centre - part of early help within children's services.
* Ability to support the delivery of supervised contact to cases open to Early Help.
* Ability to attend staff meetings, reviews, planning meetings and conferences and contribute towards plans and objectives for children and young people.
* Knowledge of different methods of family support and intervention.
* Working knowledge of other relevant legislation, relevant national resources and relevant experience working directly with adolescents and other agencies to resolve conflict and reduce risk.
* Ability to think creatively, problem-solve and meet deadlines.
* Ability to mentor others and apply good standards of practice.
