SEND Support assistants

Full time term time only

We are recruiting for Special Educational Needs Assistants for supply cover within a large special school in the Huddersfield area to start ASAP on a temporary basis with an opportunity of becoming permanent. The special school is Ofsted rated good and have a warm supportive team. Upon vetting and throughout the registration process, PK Education will provide you with a personalised process, an experienced specialist consultant dedicated to working on your behalf to source you your desired role. You will have continuous CPD development opportunities, supporting you with your CV and interviews. We are looking for individuals from the following backgrounds:

• SEND Teaching assistants, support workers, personal care assistants, social care workers and similar background or experiences.

If you have, the following qualifications and or training this will also be beneficial:

• GNVQ level 3 in health and social care, SEND diploma, MA in SEND, Makaton, PECS, Peg feed, personal care, medication trained, hoist training, manual handling, Autism awareness, Team Teach, MAPPA, PRYCE, BSL, sensory training, play therapy or similar training and or qualifications.

Having experience working with individuals with a wide range of special educational needs including:

• Verbal and nonverbal Autistic spectrum disorder, Downs Syndrome, Asperger s, specific learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, Pathological avoidance difficulties, complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Be able to be flexible in your approach, supporting the class teacher and understanding the core values of the special school setting.
