Housing Inspector / Technical Officer - Ongoing temporary role
Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

We are looking for an experienced technical officer for a local housing authority - you will be providing technical and administrative support to the Capital Works Manager & Team Leader as well as advice and assistance to Tenants and leaseholders in connection with all aspects of capital works programmes to the housing.

You will play a key role in the delivery of major works programmes to properties to ensure ongoing improvement, compliance is maintained and managed.

The role of Housing Inspector / Technical Officer will involve:

• Property inspections, overseeing works on site and liaison with tenants, contractors and other relevant bodies.
• Day to day co-ordination of Technical Officers.
• Carry out inspections to the authorities housing property portfolio in relation to capital improvement works programmes.
• Monitor and manage work in progress ensuring contractors and clients adhere to specified schedules of works and resolve any complaints accordingly.
• Contract supervision, prepare reports, attend meetings and feed into service planning as required.
• Inspect completed works, agree unforeseen/additional works, preparing a defect list where necessary, check all documents and assist with valuations.
• Liaise with other Council departments as required including Homefinder, Building Control, and Planning, public utilities, statutory and voluntary organisations.

The ideal candidate for the role of Housing Inspector / Technical Officer will be required to have the following

• Experience and knowledge of building, construction and maintenance and building regulation requirements
• Knowledge of housing inspection and assessment methods, including Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
• Good customer service skills with the ability to liaise at all levels including other departments, Building Control, and Planning, public utilities, statutory and voluntary organisations
• Experienced in dealing with the public preferably in a social housing environment
• Ability to write letters, reports and present information in a clear, concise manner.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Good use of IT software packages.
