Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic and fast-paced acute medicine team in Oxford. This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive occupational therapy services in an acute hospital environment. The position is full-time, with the option for part-time hours, and the successful candidate can start as soon as possible.

Position Details:

• Role: Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist
• Location: Oxford, Acute Medicine Department
• Hours: Full-time (open to part-time applicants)
• Hourly Rate: Up to £30 per hour
• Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients within the acute medicine setting to identify occupational therapy needs.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans aimed at improving functional independence, recovery, and overall well-being.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers, to provide holistic patient care.
• Provide education and training to patients, families, and staff on occupational therapy interventions, safety strategies, and long-term care plans.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in line with hospital policies and professional standards.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discharge planning and ongoing care.

Essential Criteria:

• HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
• Experience in acute medicine or a similar clinical setting is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to working within a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous experience working in an acute hospital or acute medicine department.
• Post-graduate training or qualifications in relevant areas of occupational therapy.
