Job Title: Contract 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant/ Behaviour Mentor in SEMH Provision
Location: London Borough of Lewisham
Frequency: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4pm (5 days)
Daily Rate: £85 - £110 (depending on experience)
Start Date: Straight Away
Successful SEMH Provision located in the London Borough of Lewisham is currently seeking an experienced, dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant/ Behaviour Mentor. This is an ongoing long term Monday to Friday post to start immediately.
This 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant/ Behaviour Mentor role involves providing tailored support to students diagnosed with SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and challenging behaviours, both on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings.
The successful 1:1 Behaviour Support/ Behaviour Mentor will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Class sizes are small, typically up to 6 children per class.
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ASD, and challenging behaviours as either a Behaviour Support Assistant or Behaviour Mentor / Behaviour Teaching Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant/ Teaching Assistant/ Child Support Worker
You will have an enhanced DBS or able to put a new one in process straight away.
Strong understanding of SEMH and ASD, including strategies for supporting students with these needs.
Ability to work effectively on a 1:1 basis and with small groups.
Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH needs, ASD, and challenging behaviours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Assist in the planning and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting positive social interactions and self-regulation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging situations.
Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students.
Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or related fields are desirable.
