MDE UK is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Credit Controller and Accounts Assistant to join our team on a 6 months fixed term contract. The role combines traditional credit control responsibilities with key finance and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the finance function. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing accounts receivable, ensuring accurate financial records, and maintaining excellent client and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Credit Control Including but not limited to:
* Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
* Perform credit checks on new clients and set appropriate credit limits.
* Proactively follow up on overdue invoices and resolve payment disputes professionally.
* Generate and distribute customer statements and debt reports.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and payment agreements.
Accounts Assistant Including but not limited to:
* Prepare sales invoices to clients accurately and on time.
* Set up new clients/suppliers on the accounting system (currently Xledger, transitioning to AccountIQ).
* Review consultant timesheets and expense claims, ensuring they adhere to contractual requirements.
* Liaise with consultants and managers to resolve discrepancies or incomplete submissions.
* Undertake ad hoc administrative duties as required by the Line Manager.
* Assist with other finance-related tasks and projects as needed to support the team’s objectives.
Required Skills and experience
* Understanding of booking keeping (double entry)
* Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar financial role.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, consultants, and suppliers.
* High attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Positive and professional attitude.
* Proactive and solution-oriented with a can-do attitude.
* Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
* High level of integrity and professionalism when dealing with confidential financial information.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and systems.
Working Conditions
* Salary from £30,000 depending on experience.
* This is a temporary-to-permanent position based on a 6-month contract.
* The role is office-based during training, after which it transitions to a hybrid working model:
* 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home (subject to company policy)
