Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Complex Domestic Abuse Practitioner for a domestic abuse charity based in Greater Manchester.
This is a full time, Fixed-term contract until March 2026 based in Stockport, with travel across various locations.
The salary is £26,929.28 per annum
Purpose of the Post
To work alongside our high-risk IDVA service to provide an intensive programme of support to those victims who are identified as having multiple or complex needs, repeat victimisation and – where engagement attempts have proven unsuccessful – in improving outcomes. They will maintain a unique working partnership between Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) and statutory safeguarding partners, and will help to enable victims to develop and maintain relationships that promote their wellbeing, keep them safe and prevent, reduce or delay their need to access statutory services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Focus upon the delivery of outcomes to individuals to reduce repeat victimisation, including:
* Reductions in crisis situations related to domestic abuse or relationship issues and improved mental and physical wellbeing
* Obtaining or maintaining accommodation
* Reduced demand upon service such as the police, hospitals and social care
* Improving independence, resilience and improving social inclusion through facilitating access to positive activities and support.
* Work innovatively and where necessary assertively with people to help them achieve agreed outcomes, building upon their existing strengths and support networks.
* Work with people with a range of needs, managing risk and feeding into SWA and statutory safeguarding teams wider risk management and review system.
* Where agreed, facilitate a support plan that is SMART in application and act as a lead professional to co-ordinate interventions where required. Maintaining and updating records in a timely and accurate manner.
* Deliver, and motivate people to act upon general advice and navigation towards community based support services.
* To identify and manage risk issues and carry out relevant risk assessments such as MARAC in order to safeguard individuals and their children.
* Abide by Health and Safety regulations and take responsibility for own safety and that of individuals, colleagues and visitors.
* To continually reflect on your own professional performance through participation in regular supervision sessions and Personal Development Reviews.
Person Specification
* Hold relevant qualifications at NVQ Level 3, equivalent experience or a vocational qualification.
* Experience of or an understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their families and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
* Can understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse.
* Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
* Good organisational and planning skills, ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands; work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* An understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data protection and professional boundaries when working with adults, children and young people.
* Have experience of providing support to vulnerable adults
* Experience of holding a caseload and providing or arranging services appropriate to need
* Experience of creating, recording and implementing outcome-focussed support plans, also of enabling people with a broad range of issues to recognise assets and build resilience and assessing, working and managing risk appropriately.
* Experience of delivering psychoeducational interventions to the victims of DA.
* Ability to communicate positively and assertively with people at all levels and to prioritise own workload and be a good team player
* Confident in the use of IT and web-based tools/information.
* A working understanding of information and advice, signposting and person-centred support.
* Ability to prioritise own workload, along with commitment to equality and diversity
Other Requirements
* Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
* Valid ‘Right to Work’ document
* Professional references covering the last two years
* Due to the nature of this role a full clean driving license and access to a vehicle will be required.
