Plant Co-ordinator
Location - London
The Plant Co-ordinators primary responsibilities are to ensure the construction site complies with the LOLER and PUWER Regulations, the daily management of plant on and off site and planned preventative maintenance while ensuring compliance with labour, safety, environmental and corporate policies and regulations.
This is a hands on position with the responsible for the safe operation of all plant on site. This position plays an integral part in plant safety, safe methods of working, innovations, implementation of the mechanical procedures and responsibility for ensuring plant safety standards are met.
Key tasks
The following reflect the main tasks associated with your position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive.
Act as the project central point for the coordination of plant and equipment control;
Ensure PUWER and LOLER regulations are being adhered to and all plant standards are met by all including subcontractors;
Sign off each item of plant entering the construction site as damage free or collect the records;
Issue weekly plant and equipment status report to plant management;
Attend weekly plant meetings and offer cost saving solutions;
Identify areas where suitable improvements, innovations can be made;
maintain and update a site plant list and as a result track plant on and off site, relay this to the plant buyer;
Ensure the maintenance schedule is kept to;
Construct and maintain a plant servicing register including automatic warnings for impending works;
Constantly monitor all plant and processes on site;
Carry out weekly maintenance tasks as required;
Collect and record all maintenance records including appropriate certification;
manage fitting and mechanical personnel;
Remind those responsible and plan impending maintenance works;
Maintain a defects register to track and effectively close out defects;
Be the central point for all plant related issues; and
Report areas of concern and or short comings to plant management so actions can be taken.
Key skills and experience
Recent plant management experience in a tunnelling environment with experience reporting to the Plant Manager
At least 10 years' experience maintaining shaft sinking and tunnelling construction plant
Ensure that all plant is maintained, supported and available
Proactively engage with the equipment suppliers to ensure that their expertise contributes to the effective operation of production equipment and resolution of problems
Recent experience of managing a team in a production environment
'Hands on' technical experience in a tunnelling environment
Has excellent record keeping skills
Working knowledge of finance and the plant ordering process
Capacity to manage change - identify problems, their causes and practical solutions
