Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Secondary School, Southwark
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term (Until the end of the academic year)
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our vibrant team at a mainstream secondary school in Southwark. This full-time, long-term position offers an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of students. The role is due to start immediately and will continue through until the end of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans, working closely with teaching staff.
Support students in the classroom, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
Help with the management of classroom behaviour and provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
Monitor student progress, assist with assessments, and provide feedback to teachers.
Foster an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for all students, helping to build their confidence and independence.
Liaise with parents and professionals to support students' development and wellbeing.
Contribute to the overall school environment, working as part of a collaborative team.
Key Requirements:
Previous child-based experience is essential, with a proven track record of supporting students in an educational setting.
Experience with SEND is required, including knowledge of strategies to support students with a variety of learning needs.
A DBS check on the update service is mandatory for the role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting students and teachers.
