Job Title: RE & Citizenship Teacher (QTS)
Location: London Borough of Lewisham

Position Type: Full-Time ongoing Monday to Friday contract
£150 - £180 per day (depending on experience)
SEMH School is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced RE & Citizenship Teacher in the London Borough of Lewisham. This is a Monday to Friday long term contract to start straight away.
The successful RE Teacher/ Citizenship Teacher must have Qualified Teacher Status and can teach fun and engaging Religious Education (RE) and Citizenship lessons in either a Secondary School OR SEMH School / Pupil Referral Unit / Alternative Provision or SEN School.
As the new RE Teacher/ Citizenship Teacher you will have sound knowledge and experience in teaching the UK curriculum at both KS3 & KS4 levels. Additionally you have strong background in working with students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health), and will be adept at managing challenging behaviour in a non-judgemental way.
Class sizes are small, typically up to 6 children per class with a minimum of 3 Behaviour TAs to assist in your class.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Proven experience in teaching Citizenship and RE at KS3 and KS4 levels.
Experience working in either; SEMH School OR Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / Alternative Provision / Secondary School /SEN School
Must have taught the UK curriculum Religious Education and Citizenship at both KS3 & KS4 levels
You have an in date enhanced DBS or able to get a new one in process ASAP
You live in easy commutable distance to the London borough of Lewisham.
Strong understanding of ASD and SEMH needs and effective strategies for supporting students with these needs.
Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviour in a classroom setting.
Planning, preparing, and delivering fun and engaging high-quality Citizenship and RE lessons that meet the educational needs of students with ASD and SEMH.
Developing and implementing individualised learning plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
Managing classroom behaviour effectively, using a range of strategies to support students with challenging behaviours.
Assessing and monitoring students' progress, providing regular feedback and reports to parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
Collaborating with colleagues, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support and development.
Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
Maintaining accurate records of students' progress, attendance, and any relevant incidents.
Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
