Research Hub Manager
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria
Salary: £37,999 with incremental progression to £42,632 per annum
Job Type: Fixed Term - Ends 31/12/2027

The Role
* To manage the PCSM Research Hub in supporting and facilitating health research activity in the IoH and across the UoC, with the NHS in Cumbria and in close collaboration with Imperial College Faculty of Medicine.
* To manage the day-to-day operation of the Research Hub acting as the first point of contact for researchers and other stakeholders with PCSM and supporting the creation of a PCSM research project competition, managing the promotion, project paperwork, selection and award of successful projects.
* To develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of external stakeholders, funding agencies and partner organisations
Skills and Qualifications
* Educated to RQF Level 6 (degree level or equivalent) or equivalent experience
* Previous experience of dealing with research administration and research project delivery in University or NHS sector.
* Management skills to successfully establish and run the Hub.
* Knowledge of medical research practices and processes and understanding of broader areas and issues (regulations, legislation, and national codes of practice, and implications of non-compliance, etc).
* Ability to design, develop and deliver different aspects of work from inception to completion (e.g. relating to research project competition).
* Professional approach to work and work colleagues and an ability to work independently and show initiative.
* Knowledge of relevant information management systems and understanding of medical research terminology.
* Understanding of relevant planning and budgeting processes and the ability to control budgets and contracts for goods and services.
* Organisation and time management skills to plan and organise activities and events of some complexity including relevant budgeting and planning processes.
* Ability to provide input into the development of Research hub policy, etc, including effectively writing reports and policies.
* Skills to research collate and edit material for inclusion in reports/other documents
* Ability to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of possible longer-term implications.
* Ability to explain/present detailed procedural information to non-experts, and to negotiate, and represent work issues on behalf of the Research Hub.
* Knowledge of relevant IT packages, information systems and procedures, ability to adapt/transfer skills to use new technology, development and maintenance of websites, e.g. Office 365.
