Lead Planner required for an initial 10 month contract which is OUTSIDE IR35 based in York.
As a key member of the planning function you will lead the project planning and control function on either a major project or be responsible for a number of smaller projects.
You will be a key member of the project delivery team and support project and senior project managers in the successful planning and control of project delivery.
You will also be expected to support the overall business planning requirements of the organisation through the proper resourcing of plans under your control.
As a Lead Planner you will utilise your experience and expertise to support improvement activities and ensure best practice is identified and implemented.
You will also help mentor and coach more junior planners within the planning team.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the technical planning expert, ensuring consistent application of standards and procedures.
Collaborate with project, commercial, and finance managers to ensure schedules are accurately developed and maintained.
Work closely with site and possession planners to ensure all activities align with the main project schedule.
Engage with the Bids & Tendering team to transition tender plans into contract plans.
Build and maintain strong relationships with client representatives to provide effective planning solutions.
Perform critical path analysis and advise on actions and areas of concern.
Meet periodic project reporting requirements through the provision of KPI, EV, schedule delay, and critical path analysis reports.
Conduct analysis and scenario modelling for potential project changes, including risk assessment, cost analysis, and delay analysis.
Job Requirements:
Degree/HND/HNC level qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Expertise in planning major infrastructure projects, preferably within the rail industry.
Experience in working with project/programme management both internally and within client organisations.
Advanced proficiency in Primavera and other planning tools such as MS Project.
Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills paired with an assertive behaviour style.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
