Property Surveyor - Full-Time Position
Location: Office-based, working across the city as required by the service
Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week (9 AM - 5 PM)
Rate: £300 per day (Umbrella)
Reporting To: Senior Property Surveyor

Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing housing standards, with responsibilities including:
Property Inspections: Regularly inspect external and communal areas to identify reactive repairs and cyclical maintenance needs, ensuring works are carried out efficiently.
Collaborative Work: Partner with colleagues across Housing Services to improve quality and customer satisfaction for residents.
Strategic Leadership: Provide insights into investment needs, support repairs contract delivery, and contribute to the overall leadership of housing services.
Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, providing expertise in construction-related safety laws.
Complaint Resolution: Manage and resolve resident complaints effectively, ensuring documentation is thorough and timely.
Insurance & Section 20 Compliance: Monitor insured peril claims and maintain detailed records for pre- and post-inspections.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day
Conduct property inspections (both pre- and post-works), upload findings via Site Audit Pro, and provide detailed diagnostics with photos.
Oversee contractor payment approvals (up to £1,500 per job) and manage post-inspection processes.
Proactively handle requests for contract or cost variations and maintain Section 20 paperwork.
Deliver clear and timely communication to residents, ensuring all inspections and reports are documented within service-level agreements.
What We're Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
Minimum 5 years of experience in responsive repairs, ideally within housing.
Excellent building pathology knowledge.
Proven track record in delivering high standards of customer service.
Degree in Building Surveying
Skills & Attributes
Strong IT proficiency and ability to manage systems like Orchard and SharePoint.
Problem-solving mindset with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
Methodical, detail-oriented, and highly organised.
Effective communicator, confident in engaging with residents and colleagues.
