Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear Sector)

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the nuclear sector based in Warrington. This hybrid role offers a mix of remote working and on-site presence, ensuring flexibility while maintaining the hands-on engagement necessary for project success. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead complex nuclear engineering projects, providing technical expertise and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects within the nuclear sector from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and stringent quality and safety standards.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and specifications, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulations.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost estimates to support project planning and decision-making processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, civil, and structural engineers, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex projects within the nuclear sector.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes specific to the nuclear industry.
Proficiency in using engineering software and tools such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Familiarity with relevant nuclear industry standards and regulations.
Experience working in a hybrid role and adapting to remote and on-site work environments.Benefits:
