Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear Sector)

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the nuclear sector based in Warrington. This hybrid role offers a mix of remote working and on-site presence, ensuring flexibility while maintaining the hands-on engagement necessary for project success. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead complex nuclear engineering projects, providing technical expertise and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects within the nuclear sector from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and stringent quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
• Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and specifications, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost estimates to support project planning and decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, civil, and structural engineers, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
• Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex projects within the nuclear sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes specific to the nuclear industry.
• Proficiency in using engineering software and tools such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with relevant nuclear industry standards and regulations.
• Experience working in a hybrid role and adapting to remote and on-site work environments.
