Job Description

Our client, BAE - Maritime Services, is seeking a skilled Ship Technician to join their team on a contract basis at the UK Naval Defence Base in Portsmouth. This role involves working on the Type 45 and Carriers for the UK Navy within a leading Defence and Security company.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining and ensuring the safety of the ships within the naval base

Managing and applying safe systems of work (SSoW)

Interpreting drawings related to ship maintenance and repair

Testing and proving systems are dead before commencing work

Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations

Job Requirements:

Experience as a BAE-trades-ship warden

Knowledge of safe systems of work (SSoW)

Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends

Ability to interpret technical drawings

Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic working environment

Proficiency in IT and problem-solving abilities

Strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure

Comfort working within a naval defence environment

Background in Oil and Gas or experience with the Merchant Navy as a junior engineer is desirable
