Job Opportunity - Group Accountant - North West England (Could maybe consider remote)

One of my local Government clients based in the North West of England are currently on the lookout for a Group Accountant to join their team on an interim basis.

Group Accountant

Contract Length: 6 Months

Pay Rate: DOE

Days: X5 days (Could also consider X4 days) per week

Start Date: ASAP

Hybrid working: The preference is for someone who can work on a hybrid basis in the office, but should this not be available they will be happy to consider remote working.

The role will include:-

• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation financial statements.
• Analysing financial results and providing insights to senior managers.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory and tax reporting requirements.
• Managing a team of professionals within the department.
• Developing strong relationships across the council.
• Providing specialist support to Members, Directors, and senior Managers.

Successful candidates will:

• Have experience completing the above tasks within a local authority setting.
• Have previous line management/leadership experience of a finance (preferably business partnering) team in a local authority setting.
• It is desirable that candidates have experience working in the following local authority finance directorates (this role will not include all of what I am about to list): Highways, Place, Inclusive Growth, Regeneration, Economic Growth, Waste, Corporate (Property, IT, Legal, HR) etc.
• You do not necessarily need to be a fully qualified accountant for this position as they are also willing to consider candidates who are part qualified or qualified by experience but it is a MUST that candidates have previous local authority experience working at this level as there will be an expectancy to be able to hit the ground running.
