The Opportunity
Are you a compassionate and adaptable individual looking for a flexible role in special education? We are seeking dedicated Supply Teaching Assistants to work across a range of special schools across Swindon and Wiltshire, supporting students with complex needs, including Autism, PMLD, SLD, and SEMH. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to gain experience in SEND settings, work in a variety of schools, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with additional needs.

The Role
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and group support to students in different special schools, adapting to each school's approach. You will help create a nurturing and structured learning environment, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and engaged in their education.

Main Responsibilities

• Support students with a range of complex needs, including Autism, PMLD, and SEMH.
• Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning and care plans.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required.
• Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner.
• Foster independence, confidence, and social skills in pupils.
• Adapt quickly to different schools and class environments.

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience working in special schools or with children with SEND.
• High levels of patience, empathy, and resilience.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to work in different settings.
• Access to a car and a valid driving licence.

Desirable Criteria

• Relevant qualifications.
• Experience using communication aids and sensory integration techniques.
• Team Teach training.

Vetting: Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all the staff we employ to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks and TRA checks. Applicants who do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, will need to process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work and the DBS has been registered on the update service.
