Job Title: Contract Maintenance Engineer (FMCG)
Location: Manchester
Contract Length: 3 Months Rolling
Rate: 25 - 35
Shifts: Days/Nights Available

About the Role:

A client of mine are looking for experienced Contract Maintenance Engineers to join a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring high levels of machine reliability and efficiency by carrying out reactive and planned maintenance on a variety of automated production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime in a high-output production environment.
• Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production lines and packaging machinery.
• Diagnose faults on electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, conveyors, motors, sensors, and automated systems.
• Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring optimal performance.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects, focusing on efficiency and waste reduction.
• Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and food industry hygiene standards.
• Accurately log maintenance activities and provide reports on recurring issues.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an FMCG, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with high-speed production lines, packaging equipment, and automation systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and quickly adapt to changing production demands.
• PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar) is advantageous.
• Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering).
• 18th Edition certification (desirable for electrically biased engineers).
