Our client is currently seeking an experienced Interim Head of Service with a strong background in highways to join a dynamic team. This role is crucial in overseeing and managing the comprehensive delivery of highway services in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing strategic leadership and management of the highway services

Ensuring the efficient delivery of highway maintenance, improvement projects, and safety initiatives

Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and programmes related to highway operations

Managing budgets and resources to ensure cost-effective service delivery

Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve service objectives

Monitoring service performance and implementing improvement plans as necessary

Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards

Communicating effectively with the public, elected members, and partner organisations

Job Requirements:

Experience in highway services management and operations

Strong knowledge of highway policies, procedures, and best practices

Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation

Excellent leadership and team management skills

Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for highway services

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements

Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
