Role details:
Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is seeking a skilled 2nd Line Support - IT Technician to join their team on a contract basis. This role is based in Raleigh with travel to local sites such as BRNC, Devonport, and Culdrose. The successful candidate will need to hold a full UK driving license and will have access to the use of a pool car.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to ensure IT systems and associated training equipment are correctly maintained and repaired to meet contract performance standards.
Deliver IS support (1st/2nd Line) ensuring calls are managed in line with agreed SLA/KPI.
Manage user accounts and assist in updating the register of IT assets.
Carry out inventory checks of hardware and software of IT systems as directed.
Provide timely resolution of technical problems, keeping users informed of the status of their support requests.
Assist with backup system operations including tape rotation.
Support software deployment and assist in the build of PCs, Servers, and Mobile Systems as per contract and customer needs.
Monitor system alerts and reports, ensuring all works are managed through the mandated management system.
Liaise with contractors and suppliers of IS equipment and contribute to the proper installation, maintenance, and disposal of IS Equipment.
Ensure all IT support services are delivered to contract requirements.
What we are looking for in you:
Previous experience of fault finding, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining IT Systems.
Previous experience of fault finding, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining computer peripherals such as AV equipment, scanners, printers and projectors.
Previous experience of basic fault finding, diagnosing and repairing of Ethernet Networks.
Previous experience of Local and Domain user account management.
Qualified academically or vocationally in relevant IT subject matter.
Excellent working experience and knowledge of Microsoft based products such as Desktop OS and Office including the deployment and through life support.
Capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC).
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable skills:
Previous experience of applying IT principles practically in the Royal Navy training establishments.
An understanding of the MoD Accreditation and SCIDA processes
An understanding of Network Infrastructure Services including Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS and Firewalls.
Relevant Microsoft Certifications.
ITIL Foundation qualification.
Experience of deploying and maintaining bespoke IS products.
