Role: Head of Building Safety

Location: Fully Remote

Rate: £700 - £800/day (Outside IR35)

This opportunity for a Head of Building Safety is ideal for a Building Control professional with extensive complex project experience, ready to lead and shape a high-calibre team, driving excellence across high-profile projects.

The Role

As Head of Building Safety, you will take charge of managing and mentoring an elite team of established Building Safety Consultants (Registered Building Inspectors / Building Control Surveyors) within a small but fast-growing, multi-disciplinary consultancy. You’ll focus on utilising your building regulations expertise to ensure compliance in a proactive manner for key clients across a wide variety of high-value projects.

Typical Responsibilities:

· Leading and supporting a team of highly skilled RBIs, fostering their professional development.

· Overseeing complex project delivery (no Domestic), including reviews, reports, and compliance assessments (time split 70/30 between management & project delivery).

· Maintaining and enhancing the consultancy’s reputation for excellence in Building Regulations compliance.

· Delivering detailed reviews for large-scale HRBs, commercial, and high-value residential projects valued between £6M and £1.2B.

· Collaborating with project managers to ensure seamless project delivery by removing distractions, enabling the Building Safety team to focus on technical expertise.

The Ideal Candidate

· Ideally full qualification as a Registered Building Inspector at L3H, with extensive experience in HRBs or other complex projects (although as an advisory role, this is not necessary providing extensive complex project experience can be evidenced).

· Strong technical knowledge of Building Regulations compliance.

· A passion for mentoring and developing talented professionals

· Prior management experience desirable but not essential (support available for a L3 capable RBI looking to step up).

· A focus on quality, with the ability to balance management duties and hands-on project delivery.
