Are you a qualified Building Surveyor with experience in social housing?
I am currenlty working with a Yorkshire based Housing Association who are committed to providing safe, high-quality homes and services to their tenants. As part of their continued efforts to maintain and improve our housing stock, they are seeking an Interim Building Surveyor for a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in building surveying within the social housing sector to make an immediate impact and help us continue delivering excellent services to residents.
About the Role:
As an Interim Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting condition surveys, overseeing repair and refurbishment works, and managing various building projects across our housing stock. You will work closely with contractors, internal teams, and tenants to ensure that all building works are completed to the highest standards, on time, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting detailed condition surveys and building assessments of residential properties within the housing portfolio.
* Preparing technical reports, schedules of work, and specifications for repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
* Managing and coordinating repairs and improvements, ensuring they are completed to a high standard and within budget.
* Ensuring all works comply with building regulations, health and safety standards, and relevant legislation.
* Acting as a point of contact for contractors and tenants, ensuring effective communication throughout the process.
* Overseeing the delivery of projects from inception to completion, monitoring progress and quality.
* Identifying areas for improvement within the housing stock and recommending appropriate solutions.
* Managing and reporting on budgets for individual projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience as a Building Surveyor within the social housing sector.
* A strong understanding of building regulations, health and safety legislation, and the specific challenges within social housing.
* Ability to conduct detailed property inspections, identify defects, and produce accurate reports and specifications.
* Experience managing and overseeing repairs, refurbishments, and maintenance works.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, tenants, and internal teams.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and within budget constraints.
* A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (as travel to various sites may be required)
