Sub Agent – Highways | Up to £450pd | Inside IR35 | East of Norwich

Are you an experienced Sub Agent with a strong background in earthworks, drainage, and surfacing? We’re looking for a driven professional to join a leading principal contractor on a major highways project east of Norwich.

Role Overview:

As Sub Agent, you will report directly to the Site Agent, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of key elements of the project. You’ll oversee earthworks, drainage, and surfacing activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will also manage two Senior Engineers, providing leadership and technical support to drive progress on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Lead and coordinate earthworks, drainage, and surfacing operations

✅ Manage and mentor two Senior Engineers to ensure project milestones are met

✅ Work closely with the Site Agent to maintain programme and cost control

✅ Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations

✅ Collaborate with designers, subcontractors, and site teams to resolve technical challenges

✅ Oversee quality control and ensure works meet contractual specifications

Requirements:

 Proven experience in highways and infrastructure projects

Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, and surfacing

Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively

Excellent understanding of health, safety, and quality standards

 SMSTS/CSCS card and relevant engineering qualifications
