Job Title: EAL Teaching Assistant
Location: Finchley, North West London
Job Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only, ASAP start

Pay rate: 90 - 110 per day

About the Role:

Are you looking for your next rewarding role working with children? Do you hold a CELTA or ESOL Qualification, or a degree in English Language or Literature?

We are seeking someone who is CELTA or ESOL qualified, or that holds a degree in English Language or Literature to work as a Teaching Assistant in one of our secondary schools in Finchley. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a school environment, working closely with the SEN department to learners who have English as their Additional Language.

Key Responsibilities of a EAL Teaching Assistant:

• Classroom Support: Assist teachers in the preparation and delivery of lessons for learners whose second language is English, ensuring students are fully engaged and supported in their learning.
• Individual and Group Support: Provide tailored support to students with SEN, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
• Resource Management: Help to organise resources, ensuring that all are prepared and available for lessons.
• Student Progress: Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments.
• Enrichment Activities: Support the development and delivery of extracurricular activities, such as clubs, workshops, and field trips.

About You:

• Hold an ESOL, CELTA Qualification, or a degree in English Language or Literature
• Experience with Children: Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Sports Coach, Youth Worker or Support Worker preferred.
• Passionate: A strong interest in education and a desire to inspire young people.
• Organised: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Communicative: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
