Live-In Couple Opportunity Cook & Front of House

Seasonal Café & Takeaway Kingsbridge, Devon area
March September (with potential for longer-term work)

We are seeking a Cook and a Front of House Team Member to join a friendly café team in the Kingsbridge, Devon area. This café is a popular seaside spot, offering breathtaking views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a menu featuring fresh fish and chips, stone-baked pizzas, burgers, salads, and homemade cakes.

The Roles:

Front of House Team Member

As a key member of the front-of-house team, you will ensure smooth daily operations, excellent customer service, and a great guest experience. While your primary focus is front-of-house, flexibility to assist in the kitchen during busy periods is beneficial.

Main Responsibilities:

• Providing a warm, friendly, and efficient service to customers
• Coordinating front-of-house and takeaway operations
• Handling customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally
• Overseeing daily opening and closing procedures
• Organising staff shifts and delegating tasks when necessary
• Maintaining cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations
• Managing stock levels and placing orders
• Monitoring online reviews (TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook) and responding appropriately
• Completing daily reports and cash-up sheets for bookkeeping

Cook

As the cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving our classic seaside menu, ensuring food is fresh, well-presented, and consistently high quality.

Main Responsibilities:

• Preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items, including fish & chips, pizzas, and burgers
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
• Stock management, ordering, and proper food storage/rotation
• Keeping kitchen equipment clean and in good working order
• Completing daily kitchen records, including temperature logs and stock usage
• Ensuring food safety and allergen awareness compliance
• Assisting with takeaway service during peak times
• Working efficiently both independently and as part of a team

Who We re Looking For:

• A couple who enjoy working together in a busy hospitality environment
• Friendly, hard-working, and adaptable individuals with a hands-on approach
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for great customer service
• Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or food service (preferred but not essential)
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings
• A clean, professional appearance and a positive attitude
• A love for coastal living and working in a dynamic setting

Additional Information:

• The café is on a bus route, but having a car is beneficial
• Training and support will be provided for both roles
• Uniform and sensible footwear required

Live in is available for a couple in a double room with a small kitchen/living room. Transport car is desirable due to location, however there is a bus service. Salary £12.25 / hr for both roles.
