Job Description:
We are currently searching for an ACT Pharmacy Technician to join an NHS hospital in Bristol. This is a full-time, 3-month minimum role starting in Feb/March 2025. The position offers a Band 5 pay scale with an hourly rate of £18ph to £21ph. The working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute break.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispensing medications and ensuring accuracy in prescriptions.
Supporting the pharmacy team in day-to-day operations.
Managing stock levels and ensuring the safe storage of medicines.
Providing support to patients and healthcare professionals.
Maintaining accurate records in compliance with NHS guidelines.
Requirements:
Qualified Pharmacy Technician (ACT)
Hospital experience is not required; full training will be provided.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Available to start in Feb/March 2025.

A Day in the Life of an ACT Pharmacy Technician:
As an ACT Pharmacy Technician at our NHS hospital in Bristol, you’ll play an essential role in supporting the pharmacy team and ensuring patient safety. Your day will typically look like this:
Morning Start (9:00 AM): You’ll begin your shift by reviewing the medication orders and prescriptions that have been submitted overnight. You’ll ensure that all necessary items are ready for dispensing and that any potential issues are flagged for review.
Mid-Morning: After ensuring the prescription orders are processed accurately, you will be involved in managing stock levels. You’ll check medication inventories and ensure that essential medicines are well-stocked and stored safely in line with NHS standards.
Late Morning: You will be dispensing medications to patients and preparing them for collection or delivery. This requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure that every prescription is filled accurately and appropriately.
Lunch Break (12:30 PM – 1:00 PM): Take a well-deserved break to recharge.
Afternoon (1:00 PM): You’ll continue assisting with daily pharmacy operations, supporting both your pharmacy colleagues and the wider healthcare team. This could include answering queries from medical staff, advising on medication usage, and ensuring that patient records are updated in compliance with NHS guidelines.
Late Afternoon: In the final stretch of your shift, you may assist with the preparation and management of more complex prescriptions, liaising directly with healthcare professionals as needed. You’ll also help in ensuring all safety and quality measures are adhered to.
End of Day (5:00 PM): As your shift winds down, you'll perform a final check on your medication stock, document your daily activities, and ensure that any pending tasks are handed over to the next shift, ensuring smooth continuity of care.
