Learning Mentor
Location: Sparkhill, Birmingham B11
Pay Scale: £95 - £105 per day
Duration: Long Term to Permanent
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:30 - 15:30
Start Date: 24/02/2025
Long Term Futures is looking for a dedicated Learning Mentor to support primary school pupils with SEN at a mainstream school in Sparkhill. This role focuses on providing individual and small-group support to help children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. This is a long-term position, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils with SEN engage in learning
Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to track progress and adapt support strategies
Use structured interventions and positive reinforcement techniques to promote engagement and independence
Assist pupils with transitions and changes in routine, reducing anxiety and promoting stability
Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families to create a supportive learning environmentWhat We're Looking For:
Relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related field
Experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting
Understanding of SEN and behavioural needs, with training in TeamTeach or Positive Behaviour Management being a plus
Strong communication and rapport-building skills, with experience using Makaton or PECS being beneficialHow to Apply:
