Greenspace - delivers horticulture, conservation, and parks maintenance.

About the role

To undertake a full range of grounds maintenance tasks as directed by the management team. The role will support the delivery of the specification across a range of sites within the Parks and Open spaces portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to Parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments.

Key Responsibilities:-

Be able to work individually or as part of a team to undertake a full range of horticultural duties within the portfolio using a full range of hand tools and mechanical machinery. 

All forms of shrub, flower beds, herbaceous beds and hedge maintenance.

Pedestrian grass mowing, strimming and leaf blowing. 

Planting, watering, and maintenance of annual bedding displays.

Assist in the preparation and maintenance of sports pitches, including line marking, erection and dismantling of sports equipment. 

Application of herbicides in accordance with current environmental legislation.

Maintain an assigned company vehicle in a clean, tidy and presentable condition at all times. 

Take ownership and complete general maintenance/cleaning tasks for hand tools and equipment as required.

Any other duties that can be reasonably expected within the role.  

Education & Qualifications:-

Education & Qualifications

Educated to GCSE standards, including English and Maths as a minimum. 

Full UK driving License.  

Horticultural Qualification 

B+E Entitlement on Driving License

Pesticides License (PA1, PA6)Experience, Knowledge and Understanding

Experience in a wide range of grounds maintenance operations

Good knowledge of the local area 

A basic understanding of the Countryside and Wildlife Act

Understanding of environmental regulations applicable to parksJob Related skills

Good communication skills – both written and oral.

Able to use judgement and discretion.

Able to work on own initiative/take responsibility. 

Ability to prioritise works under pressure and within strict time frames 

Personal Skills

Enthusiasm for high quality parks and open spaces

Passion for working outside in all weathers
