Job Description

Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Mission Planning & Control Lead Architect to join their team on a contract basis. This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated systems engineering team, tasked with delivering the Mission Planning & Control products for the FC/ASW TP15-a complex and critical weapon system providing both future cruise and anti-ship capabilities.

• Lead the architecture development for Mission Planning & Control products within the TP15 weapon system.
• Own and maintain the MP&C Architecture Vision.
• Support the Head of FC/ASW TP15 MP&C in capturing activity breakdowns, plans, and key milestones associated with MP&C architecture development.
• Delegate tasks locally to MP&C architects.
• Manage the delivery of work packages.
• Ensure coherence of the TP15 MP&C architecture with the broader Weapon System Architecture, including decomposition traceability and interface definition.
• Guide the team in using the architecture model to support and drive design definition.
• Report to the Head of FC/ASW TP15 MP&C.
• Provide progress updates and communicate issues effectively.
• Distill direction into effective team leadership and support other first reports to achieve team objectives.

• Strong background in complex systems architecture, including experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Understanding or experience of key architectural principles in a product line environment is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills, with a strong desire to build and maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
• Ability to influence and lead effectively, coordinating activities across multi-skilled teams.
• Capability to autonomously lead work packages across small to medium teams.
• Proven ability to learn rapidly and tackle highly complex problems.
