Social Worker – Adolescence Emotional Support & Homeless Prevention Team

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Adolescence Emotional Support & Homeless Prevention Team in Lewisham. This role is focused specifically on working with 16 and 17-year-olds who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing emotional distress. You will play a key role in providing support, intervention, and safeguarding measures to ensure positive outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities:

Work directly with 16- and 17-year-olds who are at risk of homelessness or require emotional support.

Undertake assessments, including Child in Need and Child Protection assessments, ensuring appropriate support plans are in place.

Collaborate with housing teams, mental health services, and other partner agencies to secure suitable accommodation and support for young people.

Provide crisis intervention and advocacy for young people navigating complex situations.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Housing Act 1996.

Maintain accurate case records and produce high-quality reports for legal proceedings if required.

Work within a hybrid model, with a combination of office-based, home-based, and direct outreach work.

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Experience working with adolescents, particularly those at risk of homelessness or emotional distress.

Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

Ability to manage complex cases and work collaboratively with multi-agency teams.

Experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
