Project Manager
Manchester, Hybrid-Remote
Full-time, 35 hours per week
Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2026

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven Project Manager to join a well-established organisation for a unique and exciting fixed-term contract.
Our client is a trade body for a subsection of the not-for-profit finance sector, and they provide a wide variety of services and support to their 140+ nonprofit financial institution members alongside lobbying and representing the industry to government.
They’re looking for a Project Manager for a fixed term of 11-12 months to manage and deliver a variety of exciting projects. This role will involve managing a number of projects, with a main focus on a community development project that would include securing funding, budgeting & forecasting, engaging with partner organisations, preparing proposals, and delivering results.
The ideal candidate would be somebody who has experience in a public sector or not-for-profit organisation within a role that involves managing a number of projects at the same time, including taking care of timelines & budgeting, and who has good experience of stakeholder management & engagement. The role
Day-to-day responsibilities
* Deliver detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets, based on project requirements & objectives
* Define projects’ scope, goals, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies
* Lead the execution of projects, ensuring adherence to the project plan
* Monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, including status updates, reporting, and performance metrics
* Allocate resources effectively to ensure successful project execution
* Track and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and avoiding overruns
* Proactively identify and assess risks to the project’s success, including operational, financial and time-related risks
* Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations
* Facilitate and document lessons learned and final reporting of projects
* Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement and integrate feedback into future planning
* To lead on current projects including the organisation’s Futures Programme, Community Development designation, Savings Scheme, and Commercial Partnerships
* Supporting the head of department on new initiatives as and when appropriate
* Assist with the coordination of events, including member conferences
* Assist in communications and building relationships with external stakeholders and ABCUL members, including preparing briefings, presentations, web content, and news articles
* Ensure that information is organised and easily accessible by colleagues

The Person
Essential
* Proven experience in project management with a strong track record of delivering successful projects
* Experience working with diverse stakeholders, managing multiple projects, and ability to influence and work with key stakeholders
* Demonstratable experience in managing projects budgets and resources
* Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, etc…)
* Strong understanding of project management software (e.g., Microsoft Projects, Asana, Trello, Jira, etc…)
* Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking in relation to project management
* Familiarity with resource allocation, procurement, and vendor management
* Great written & verbal communication skills
* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
* Fantastic organisational skills

* Educated to degree level
