Job Opportunity: Repairs Maintenance Supervisor (Temporary)
Contract: Temporary, 3 Month contract
Possibility of Extension: Yes, based on performance
Pay Rate: £27.40 per hour (PAYE), umbrella also available
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:00
Location: W8 6PW
Job Purpose:
To deliver a wide range of professional Building Surveying and Project Management services within the Housing Maintenance Department. The role involves diagnosing, specifying, and managing repair works while maintaining a customer-focused approach. You will ensure housing stock is maintained to a high standard, adhering to health, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Technical and Professional Duties:
* Conduct building surveys, diagnose defects, and specify remedial works.
* Prepare schedules of work, specifications, and drawings for repair projects.
* Manage disrepair cases, including court appearances as an expert witness.
* Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
* Ensure all works comply with CDM Regulations 2015, Building Regulations, and council policies.
* Support party wall, rights of light, and other related building legislation matters.
* Administer contracts for remedial works and manage final accounts.
* Utilize IT systems such as Northgate, Excel, Word, and specialized software for planning and monitoring.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
* Liaise effectively with tenants, leaseholders, contractors, and council departments.
* Respond to customer complaints and inquiries professionally and empathetically.
* Ensure resident liaison services are inclusive and meet diverse needs.
Financial Management:
* Monitor project budgets, ensuring value for money and adherence to financial regulations.
* Authorize payments and variations in compliance with council standards.
Policy and Compliance:
* Maintain knowledge of best practices, legislation, and emerging technologies relevant to housing maintenance.
* Promote equal opportunities and uphold the council's commitment to diversity.
Emergency and Out-of-Hours Support:
* Provide emergency contact information for service continuity planning.
* Respond to emergencies as required, including outside normal working hours.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* HNC, BSc, or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in social housing or the construction industry.
* Proven ability to diagnose building defects and manage repair projects.
* Familiarity with CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, and Party Wall legislation.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong customer care capabilities.
Desirable:
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, RIBA).
* Experience with Right to Buy surveys and housing tenancy conditions.
* Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
