Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher of Humanities to join one of our schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated Humanities lessons to students with special educational needs (SEN). The role involves creating an inclusive learning environment that supports the individual needs of students and promotes their academic and social development. The SEN Teacher will work closely with the SENCO, support staff, and other teaching staff to ensure that students with SEN receive the best possible education.

• Delivering High-Quality Lessons: Plan, teach, and assess Humanities lessons (History, Geography, and Religious Education) in a way that meets the needs of students with SEN.
• Differentiation: Adapt and differentiate teaching materials, resources, and activities to ensure they are accessible to all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
• Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and review IEPs in collaboration with the SENCO and other colleagues to ensure that students learning needs are met effectively.
• Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and track the progress of SEN students, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to provide tailored support to SEN students both inside and outside the classroom.
• Supportive Environment: Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to take risks, develop confidence, and engage with their learning.
• Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and carers, providing updates on students progress and offering strategies to support learning at home.
• Behavior Management: Implement appropriate behavior management strategies that promote positive behavior and contribute to a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere.
• Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in teaching and supporting students with SEN.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A degree in Humanities (History, Geography, Religious Education, or a related subject) or a relevant teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching students with special educational needs, particularly in a Humanities subject.
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and strategies for supporting students with a range of needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
