Freelance Site Engineer – Industrial Project (£20M) – St Helens 🔧

🕒 Duration: 30 weeks (Freelance) - From start of April 2025

💰 Day Rate: Competitive - depending on whether you carry your own kit

🚧 Project Value: £20M

🏗 Scope: Full project lifecycle – Earthworks, Enabling Works, Groundworks, Foundations, Yard Slab, Steel Frame

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Engineer for a 30-week freelance contract on a £20M industrial project in St Helens. This role offers the opportunity to be involved from start to finish, covering earthworks, enabling works, groundworks, foundations, yard slabs, and steel frame installation.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Setting out & surveying for all major structural and civil elements

✔ Managing earthworks, groundworks, and foundation packages

✔ Overseeing yard slab installation and steel frame erection

✔ Ensuring quality control & compliance with project specifications

✔ Producing and maintaining as-built records & site documentation

✔ Working closely with subcontractors, site managers & the client team

✔ Enforcing health & safety regulations across all project phases

Requirements:

✔ Proven experience as a Site Engineer on industrial projects

✔ Strong knowledge of earthworks, foundations, and steel frame construction

✔ Proficiency in setting out, GPS equipment, AutoCAD, and site software

✔ Valid CSCS card (Engineer or higher) & SMSTS/SSSTS preferred

✔ Strong problem-solving skills & ability to work independently
