Location: Halewood Transmission Plant
Salary: Starting at £38,120.33 (depending on experience)
Duration: 2-year fixed term
Hours: Monday - Thursday (7:00 - 15:30), Friday (7:00 - 12:30)

Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd is undergoing a major transformation, investing £355 million to become Europe's first site manufacturing EV power units. With a production capacity of 420,000 units starting in 2024, we're looking for talented engineers to help shape the future of electric mobility.
Your Role
As a Controls Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our cutting-edge electric vehicle powertrain production. You'll oversee machinery controls, infrastructure, and energy systems, managing projects from small budgets to £1 million+, ensuring they're delivered safely, on time, and cost-effectively.
You'll collaborate with engineers, management, production, and maintenance teams to drive innovation and efficiency in our world-class manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee controls and electrical infrastructure for plant performance improvements
Lead electrical and controls engineering projects towards The Factory of the Future
Manage project costs, ensuring maximum value for the company
Implement innovative engineering solutions
Oversee contractors, ensuring health & safety compliance
Work with internal & external teams to deliver successful projects
Support continuous improvement across the business
What You Need to Succeed
Degree in Electronics Engineering (or related field)
Experience in Electrical & Electronics disciplines (desirable)
Project management expertise, with budgets up to £10 million
Manufacturing experience (or similar environment)
Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Project Management software)
Engineering specification & legal compliance knowledge
Analytical mindset, strong communication & self-motivation
Technical Skills (Preferred but not essential)
PLC Experience: Siemens Step-7, TIA Portal
Machine Hardware & Controls: ABB, Fanuc, Kuka & UR robotics
Vision & Fastening Systems: IFM, Keyence, Cognex, Bosch, Atlas Copco
Machine Acceptance & Compliance: CE & UKCA marking, BS & EN standards
AutoCAD Electrical & Eplan (modifications & approvals)
Energy & Infrastructure Planning: Electrical distribution, HVAC, BMS
High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) systems (Authorised Person role)
