SEMH Teaching Assistant - PRU (Primary) - Orpington

📍 Location: Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Orpington

💰 Pay Rate: From £95 per day

📅 Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 AM - 4 PM)

Empowering Learning is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a Primary PRU in Orpington. This role involves providing 1:1 support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them to engage in their learning and develop positive behaviours.

The Role:

✅ Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with SEMH needs

✅ Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

✅ Building strong and trusting relationships with students

✅ Supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils

✅ Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored support

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

✔ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

✔ Experience working with children with SEMH needs or behavioural difficulties (preferred)

✔ A passion for supporting vulnerable children and helping them succeed

✔ Strong communication and de-escalation skills

✔ The ability to work well within a team and remain calm under pressure
