Job Description

This role involves ensuring the safety and maintenance of local infrastructure, encompassing highways, bridges, and rights of way.

Main Responsibilities:

Undertaking and recording inspections and assessments of the local infrastructure network to an agreed inspection frequency.

Maintaining a methodical approach to dealing with and keeping inspection records.

Reporting to staff any defects and ensuring that urgent and routine repairs are brought to the attention of the appropriate team.

Ordering works as necessary through the highway service provider contract.

Investigating accident claims, completing necessary documentation for the County Council's insurance team, and appearing in court as required.

Job Requirements:

Completion of IHE Approved Highway Safety Inspectors training and listed on the National Register of Highway Inspectors.

Experience working in Highways & Transport in a similar role.

Ability to drive and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Familiarity with assessing highway safety defects and ordering necessary works.
