Job Description

This role involves ensuring the safety and maintenance of local infrastructure, encompassing highways, bridges, and rights of way.

• Undertaking and recording inspections and assessments of the local infrastructure network to an agreed inspection frequency.
• Maintaining a methodical approach to dealing with and keeping inspection records.
• Reporting to staff any defects and ensuring that urgent and routine repairs are brought to the attention of the appropriate team.
• Ordering works as necessary through the highway service provider contract.
• Investigating accident claims, completing necessary documentation for the County Council's insurance team, and appearing in court as required.

• Completion of IHE Approved Highway Safety Inspectors training and listed on the National Register of Highway Inspectors.
• Experience working in Highways & Transport in a similar role.
• Ability to drive and access to a vehicle for site visits.
• Familiarity with assessing highway safety defects and ordering necessary works.
