Service Care Legal re seeking an experienced and qualified Criminal/Regulatory Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx to join a law firm on a rolling contract basis. This is a fully remote, highly flexible role, ideal for someone with experience in criminal defense, particularly those with a strong understanding of criminal procedure in both Magistrates and Crown Courts.

ROLE:                  Criminal/Regulatory Solicitor (Private Client)

LOCATION:          Fully Remote

RATE:                   £40.00 to £50.00 per hour

CONTRACT:        Rolling Contract (Flexible)

This role involves defending businesses in regulatory law matters, specifically when they face prosecution. Please note, this is not a prosecution lawyer position; we are looking for someone with expertise in defence law related to regulatory offenses. While experience in regulatory law is beneficial, we are open to applicants with a background in general criminal defence who are looking to apply their skills in this area.

Key Responsibilities: 

Represent businesses in criminal and regulatory defence cases

Provide legal advice and strategy for clients in regulatory matters

Handle cases in Magistrates and Crown Courts

Manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, including regulatory offenses

Prepare legal documents, including defence statements and case summaries

Conduct legal research, and ensure compliance with criminal procedureEssential Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx

Demonstrable experience in criminal defence, ideally with knowledge of criminal procedure in both Magistrates and Crown Courts

Experience or an interest in working on regulatory defence matters (training can be provided)

Strong legal research and drafting skills

Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload

Excellent communication and client care skills

Must be self-motivated and able to work remotelyDesirable: 

Experience in regulatory law (e.g., health and safety, environmental, financial regulations)

Previous experience working with businesses in a defense capacity
