We are seeking a proactive and experienced Community Safety Officer to play a key role in tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) and enhancing public safety. You will be responsible for investigating ASB complaints, working with internal and external partners, and implementing effective interventions to improve community well-being.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact by ensuring residents feel safe in their communities while enforcing ASB and crime prevention legislation.
You will be required to be in the office / site 3 days a week, with 2 days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
·Investigate reports of ASB and nuisance behaviour, ensuring appropriate enforcement and prevention measures are implemented.
·Manage casework, conduct investigations, gather evidence, and take enforcement action where necessary.
·Issue legal documents, warnings, notices, and formal cautions in accordance with legislation.
·Work with police, housing providers, and support agencies to develop and implement safety initiatives.
·Provide expert advice and guidance on ASB legislation to residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
·Work closely with council teams, social services, law enforcement, and voluntary organisations to tackle ASB and promote safer communities.
·Develop and lead public safety campaigns, training sessions, and awareness programs.
·Represent the council in multi-agency meetings and policy discussions on community safety and crime reduction.
·Ensure all investigations and interventions comply with the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.
·Prepare case files for prosecution, attend court hearings, and provide expert witness testimony when required.
·Maintain accurate case records and reports, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
About You
·Strong knowledge of ASB legislation, including the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
·Experience in investigating ASB cases and taking enforcement action.
·Background in community safety, crime reduction, or working with vulnerable residents.
·Proven ability to develop and implement public safety policies and initiatives.
·Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with residents, stakeholders, and enforcement agencies.
·Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
·Confident in legal proceedings, including preparing case files and attending court.
·Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, and manage complex cases.
·Advanced DBS check required.
·Full UK driving licence (role involves travel).
