Vacancy - SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location - Newcastle

Start date - ASAP

Salary - 98 to 105 per day

We are working in partnership with an SEMH Special School based in the Newcastle area, who are looking to appoint several SEMH Teaching Assistants. These are full-time vacancies, seeking outstanding candidates to join the school on their journey of growth. The successful candidates can expect to work in a challenging but rewarding environment. The school leadership help and support all members of staff to help them achieve their full potential.

The job

• To provide support and guidance to the pupil by removing barriers to learning.
• To support and facilitate change and transition along the journey to excellence.
• To be a consistent support to avoid any further disruption.
• To be an active participant in supporting the timetable in all it's different context.
• Complete assessments and records of students progress and achievement when needed.
• Work 1.2.1 and group settings to support pupils with complex needs.
• Able to engage students in their lessons and support with the work.
• Experience of behaviours that challenge and good deesclation techniques.
• A calm and resilient individual with experience of supporting students in KS3 and KS4

The successful candidates will

• Hold a Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification.
• Have experience in an SEMH/SEND setting.
• Hold relevant experience / qualifications suited to supporting learners with additional needs.
• Have experience supporting learners with SEMH, behaviours that challenge & SEND needs.
• Be resilient, dedicated and reliable.
• Team teach training would be preferable.
