English Department:

The English Department is an enthusiastic and forward-thinking team dedicated to inspiring a love of language and literature. The curriculum is designed to be engaging and inclusive, covering a diverse range of texts from Shakespeare to modern fiction. Staff work collaboratively to develop creative and innovative lessons that challenge and support students of all abilities.

The department has access to excellent resources and promotes extracurricular activities such as creative writing clubs, debate competitions, and theatre visits. Staff are encouraged to contribute new ideas to the curriculum and play an active role in shaping students learning experiences.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join the team on a temporary 2-week basis, with the potential for a longer-term role. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver dynamic English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Support and challenge students of all abilities to achieve their best.
• Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to aid development.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum.
• Contribute to the wider school community and support extracurricular activities if required.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement in the classroom.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A degree in English or a related subject.
• Experience teaching English at the secondary level (KS3 and KS4).
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students.
• A commitment to professional development and fostering a positive learning environment.
