Key skills:NEBOSH, compliance, risk assessment, new factory build, data gathering, compliance, project managementI am currently recruiting for an HSE Professional to plan and coordinate the EHS requirements for a new manufacturing facility. YouThe successful applicant will be responsible for formulating the company's safety and environmental policies to ensure best practice and compliance with legislation.
The role is paying a daily rate of up to £300 LTD and is expected to last for 18 months minimum.Key responsibilities:·To prepare, manage and implement Health & Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure best practice and compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
·To initiate and influence the integration of Health & Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and work instructions into business operations and strategy.
·To act as the Company's representative in liaison with the, Local Authority, Environment Agency, Regulatory Bodies, Meggitt and other interested parties regarding regulatory permit and enforcement matters.
·To carry out Workplace Assessments on an ongoing basis as required in the management of the Health & Safety legislation.
·To develop, organise and carry out dedicated EHS, training programmes for all levels of management and employees on Health & Safety and Environmental issues.
·Develop a preventative medical care programme and employee health surveillance, in order to satisfy Company and statutory requirements.
·To establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) data collection, monitoring and analysis processes to meet regulatory and Company reporting requirements.
·To oversee the integration of individual SBU's Environmental Management Systems to achieve collective certification under ISO 14001.
·To support and participate in Meggitt Group and cross-Group projects and initiatives such as REACH, Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), HSE Council Meetings, HSE working groups and committees.
·The position involves contact with all levels of the organisation in order to provide sound, practical advice and guidance, and to encourage the management of the organisation to embrace health and safety and the environment into their day to day responsibilities. There is external contact with various advisory and statutory bodies.
·To carry out special duties as assigned.
·To establish a system for ensuring legal compliance requirements with regards to associated plant and equipment e.g PUWER, LOLER, emergency lighting etc.Please note that the experienced required is of manufacturing facilities, and not construction of the building itselfRequirements
·NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
·previous experience in developing and implementing health and safety and/or environmental programmes in a manufacturing setting.
·Previous experience managing compliance with environmental permits and consents is preferable.
·5 years post NEBOSH qualification served in an engineering manufacturing environment.
·Detailed understanding of environmental, health and safety legislation, codes of practice and standards. Ability to translate this into policies and procedures, providing advice and guidance to all levels of the organisation.
·Demonstrated communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
·Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively with all levels within the Company, customers and external agencies.
·Attention to detail is required in interpreting requirements and implementing policies and procedures.
·Demonstrable capacity to understand, analyse, and act upon a variety of information in order to make decisions, which on some occasions may involve conflicting priorities.
·PC literate, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
