Lead Practitioner - Welfare

JOB TITLE: Lead Practitioner - Welfare
LOCATION: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
SALARY: £18.21 - £19.20 + statutory holiday payTeachFE is pleased to be working alongside a leading Further Education College to recruit for an experienced Lead Practitioner for the Welfare department.
This is a full-time (36.6 hours a week), term time only role.
This is Maternity Cover until July 2019.JOB PURPOSE: To lead, manage and coordinate the delivery of welfare services to students including; Safeguarding training, Student Voice and Enrichment.JOB SPECIFIC: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. To work with the Associate Director Safeguarding and Welfare to promote the Looked After Children Service, Welfare Provsion, Student Union, Student Voice and Enrichment (including Tackling Inactivity project).2. Represent the College, when required, at external events in relation to the work of the Welfare Team; including Team Around the Child work, Child Protection Strategy discussions and Child in Need meetings.3. To deputise for the Associate Director Safeguarding and Welfare when appropriate.4. To provide specific training to staff and external agencies as appropriate in relation to safeguarding and welfare issues.5. Champion and support the needs of vulnerable young people, by partnership working, within College, the local statutory agencies and the wider community.6. Manage an outreach, inter-agency approach which ensures an individualised admissions process for each young person.7. To manage services which provides an initial, pre-enrolment, individual assessment which identifies support needs and personalised learning plan for Looked After Children and identified vulnerable students8. Establish a ‘Team Around the Child’ approach for each individual student who may present as at ‘risk’, which ensures appropriate, effective specialist intervention at the point of need.9. To effectively manage and support placement students including the delivery and
assessment process as appropriate10. To observe all College policies and procedures11. To produce reports and data in line with College Service Area reviews, requests from external agencies (ie Social Care), to be conversant with service level agreements between agencies.12. To ensure the effective implementation of the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy and supporting action plans in relation to Student Voice and Looked After Children13. To deliver safeguarding training in line with legislation.14. To contribute towards the delivery of high quality training & education for all staff.15. To manage budgets and resources as delegated.16. To assist in the self-assessment process within the area of Student Welfare, Looked After Children, Student Voice and EnrichmentJOB SPECIFIC CRITERIA: Inclusive but not limited to1. Qualified to degree level in either: Social Worker or Youth Worker who has experience of working with adolescent Looked After Children, Children on Special Guardianship and/or vulnerable children.2. Proven ability to collaborate and engage with fellow professionals across disciplines and agencies.3. Has a clear understanding of Safeguarding and a proven record in demonstrating the ability to support the provision of safe College environment.4. Has a minimum 2 years experience of line management within the context of childrens welfare, safeguarding and working with young people.5. The ability to motivate, encourage and support vulnerable, potentially ‘hard to reach’, young people.6.
